A gazillion years ago, I worked for Boeing.

In fact, I worked on the first 747. That’s how long ago it was.

Back then, the joke around the factory was:

I was reminded of that when I started prospecting for speaking gigs.

Because it feels like the same thing.

Before we ever step on stage, we generate mountains of paperwork, emails, searches, and research just trying

to find the opportunity.

The truth?

Our main job isn’t giving great presentations.

Our real job is finding the opportunities — and the people

who make the decisions.

And that can take hours… sometimes days… chasing leads that go nowhere.

Apply.

Even if it’s unpaid.

Because one talk can lead to several paid ones.

That’s how this business works.

Often the leads pay travel and lodging.  If the audience is your market and you have time, go for it!
